A brief update on the Community Group status task.
Going through the list:
- Appliances
No response.
- Approachability
Confirmed request for termination.
- Chinese Users
I think this has been superseded by BJOSUG.
- Databases
Some interest; need to follow up.
- Games on OpenSolaris
No response.
- HPC Developer
Community wishes to continue and has a list of candidate CCs.
o Bogdan Vasiliu, Sun o Josh Simons, Sun o Harshal Patil, Sun o Gayatri Tripathi, Sun o Debbie Walsh, Tabor Communications, Inc o Daniel Templeton, Sun (facilitator, I think) o Bruce Rothermal, Sun o Tavit Varanasi, Sun
All of whom have done the acceptance dance as well.
- Observability
Some interest in survival, but not critical mass.
- OpenSolaris Printing
Community wishes to continue and has a list of candidate CCs.
ceastha (Cynthia Eastham) prior core contributor grant expired gheet (Ghee Teo) new core contributor jacobs (Norm.Jacobs) prior core contributor grant expired jh118764 (Juanita Heieck) prior core contributor grant expired venkytv (venky tv) new core contributor paulcun (Paul Cunningham) prior core contributor grant expired
- PowerPC
Terminate; should have been replaced by the ppc-dev project already.
- Solaris Volume Manager - Unix File Systems (UFS)
I think these are likely to become projects (under ON?).

That works nicely so whatever content is there is preserved and remains available.
Cheers, Jim

Thank you so much for doing this and following up, Peter!

Darren Reed and Mark Martin (Cc'd) have responded on another thread about this; it sounds like this community should remain for now, and will transition into some other type of collective after the cutover. There are several not-on-os.o appliance efforts going on, and this mailing list/webpage seems to be a watering hole for them...

And updates on the outstanding ones.

A last-minute response, although I think it clear that it's not a CG in the constitutional sense.

Still need to follow up...

Although I have had some feedback - maybe a desktop project?

I think we're crawling to revitalization.

Only feedback I had was "why not storage?".

Well, let me add to that then. The UFS list has historically been a bit misnamed in that it's also the place of last resort for any filesystem that doesn't have a list of its own.
So I think that SVM might fit well under storage, but filesystems ought to be some sort of a collective under which lists for each filesystem can live. (for example, pcfs _really_ needs a lot of TLC, but that doesn't seem to get much visibility)
