When writing an announcement, remember that not everyone will be familiar with your subject. Use full project/community/technology names, and where appropriate, provide links. OpenSolaris Starter Kit | 02/28/2007Global distribution of the new OpenSolaris Starter Kit is now live at http://get.opensolaris.org/. There is also a link at http://www.opensolaris.org/os/. The kit contains tutorials, docs, community distributions, source code, and tools all delivered on two DVDs for free. Japan OpenSolaris Portal Opens | 02/22/2007The Japanese OpenSolaris community opened their portal today: http://jp.opensolaris.org/ This represents the first country portal on opensolaris.org. The project is just beginning, though, so if you'd like to participate in the development of the Japan OpenSolaris portal, sign up on the discussions page here http://jp.opensolaris.org/forums/. The Japan portal is part of the OpenSolaris country portal project, which is an effort to translate the content on opensolaris.org into as many languages as possible: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/portals/. This will be a social meeting, held at the Splitz bowling center in Westminster, at 104th and 36, near the Promenade movie theaters.
