The XMLmind XML Editor

XMLmind is a full-featured, Java-based XML editor. It is multi-platform and easy to obtain and install. The basic version is free, and a professional version is also available. XMLmind may be obtained from here:http://www.xmlmind.com/products.html.

SolBook XML Add-on For the XMLmind Editor

An add-on is available for the XMLmind editor which allows SolBook XML documents to be created and edited within the editor. The add-on includes the SolBook 3.5 XML DTD and several starter templates for staring new SolBook documents. The add-on also makes it easier to edit existing SolBook XML documents such as those found on the Documentation Download page. Note that the add-on package was updated on April 2, 2008 to include some new features such as a customized SolBook toolbar. To install the SolBook add-on, perform the following steps:

  1. Download and install either the free or the professional version of the XMLmind editor.
  2. Download the SolBook add-on package from here: solbook.zip.
  3. Extract the solbook directory from the zip package.
  4. Move the solbook directory into the addon directory within the XMLmind installation directory.
  5. Restart XMLmind. You can verify the presence of the SolBook add-on by selecting File -> New and then confirming that the options for making new SolBook Books, Articles, Chapters, and Helpsets are available.
  6. The SolBook add-on works very similar to the DocBook add-on, so the documentation at http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/docbook/index.html. should be consulted for any operational issues with the add-on.
