Welcome to the OpenSolaris Installation and Packaging community!

This community is dedicated to technologies and processes related to installing and maintaining software on OpenSolaris-based disributions, including tools used in building distributions. We also welcome discussion (and projects) related to other packaging technologies.

We are currently home to four active projects:

  • Caiman installer, which is building the OpenSolaris installer
  • Image Packaging System, the new packaging system being used in OpenSolaris
  • SVR4 packaging tools, which are the legacy tools included in the Solaris product and OpenSolaris-based distributions
  • Live Media, to support running Solaris directly from non-disk media such as DVD or flash memory

Please join or browse the community discussion!
