Caiman UI Mockup | 12/08/2006

A zip file of the interactive, HTML-based Caiman UI Mockup are now available for download at http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/install/files/prototype2.zip. It is large (12MB). This mockup is a "wireframe", i.e., it represents the page flow and approximate page content only. The visual design, layout, and precise content are still in development. Operation of the mockup has been verified in Firefox and Netscape 1.7. It is reported to work in Safari. It does not work in IE or Netscape 1.4. Your comments are welcomed.

Caiman Architecture Review | 11/08/2006

The first draft of the Caiman Architecture document is now available for review. Comments are requested by December 4, 2006.

Solaris SVr4 Packaging Requirements & Guidelines | 06/20/2006

This document describes the software packaging requirements and guidelines followed within Sun for creating software packages for the Solaris 2.x software release and, in general, for Solaris 2.x – compatible software products. This includes any procedures to guarantee the completeness, conciseness, and correctness of the SVr4 software packaging format necessary for proper installation by the Solaris 2.x system installation software.

Solaris Installation Strategy review | 03/23/2006

A draft proposal for the Solaris Installation strategy is now available for discussion, comments requested by April 14, 2006. The following items relate:

SolStart: Solaris OEM System Installation Interfaces | 05/05/1997

SolStart is Solaris Installation technology providing additional Solaris interactive installation interfaces for system initialization, preinstallation tasks, and post-installation tasks for use by Solaris OEMs, VARs, and System Integrators. The mechanisms for the pre- and post-installation tasks are equivalent to those found in the current custom Solaris JumpStart interfaces.
