xvm 3.4.0-based repository created | 05/18/2009

We now have a xen 3.4.0 based xvm-gate setup on opensolaris. We are fully caught up with 3.3.2-rc*, 3.4.0, and unstable in the respective repositories on opensolaris.org as of today.

For those who are building source, here are the build instructions

FLAG DAY: vdiskadm translate | 04/02/2009

vdiskadm translate functionality was just pushed to the 3.3 vdisk repo.

You can now translate data from one virtual disk data type to another without creating a virtual disk. This allows the user to use a vmdk file and directly translate the data into a zvol without having to import it first to a vdisk and then export it to the zvol.

FLAG DAY: vdiskadm import/export/convert | 03/30/2009

vdiskadm import/export/convert suport was just pushed to the 3.3 vdisk and vbox repos.

You can now import a disk image from a block device or file to a vdisk, convert (in place) to a different type of vdisk and export from a vdisk to a block device or file.

Full vhd support (sparse and fixed) and the ability to import a vmdk 1.1 optimized stream file was also added. An optimized stream file is readonly and must be imported to another type (vmdk:sparse by default) in order to be used as a vdisk. Currently, there is no support for exporting a vmdk 1.1 optimized stream file.

FLAG DAY: new qemu.hg MQ gate | 03/10/2009

A new MQ gate for the latest 3.3 qemu bits (http://xenbits.xensource.com/git-http/qemu-xen-3.3-testing) has been created.

As of this putback, all qemu changes should be done out of qemu.hg and not xen.hg. The bits in qemu.hg represent a significant upgrade to qemu.
