API Stability

The Nemo/GLDv3 interfaces are currently not officially supported "public" interfaces. This means that a driver compiled using the interfaces made available through OpenSolaris is currently not guaranteed to run on all future Solaris releases unmodified.

The team is hard at work to make the Nemo interfaces officially supported for 3rd party drivers on Solaris. However this is a time consuming process since it requires us to guarantee some level of binary compatibility for years to come, providing a complete detailed documentation of all of these interfaces, etc.

Note that this should not prevent you from starting to port your drivers to Nemo/GLDv3, to provide us feedback and gain expertise with these new interfaces. One of our goals is to make the conversions needed to move to the "official" interfaces as simple as possible.

Note also that these restrictions do not apply to drivers that are part of the ON consolidation. If you have a Nemo driver and are interested to integrate it in OpenSolaris, please let us know.
